Freyer Lives

Sketch of Loge by Achim Freyer for the LA Opera production of Wagner's Ring Cycle

Zerbinetta over at Likely Impossibilities reports that the Achim Freyer production of Wanger’s Ring Cycle produced successfully and single-handedly by L.A. Opera is scheduled to see the light of day again at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest starting with Das Rheingold in the 2011/2012 season.

It's no secret I'm a huge fan of this production and wrote about it extensively. Here's hoping it gets filmed this time around. And better yet, here's hoping that the political situation in Hungary remains palatable enough that I can find some way to get there and see this masterpiece again when it comes around in full.

Thankfully I have a friend in Budapest who has been asking me to visit. This will guarantee I see this marvelous production again!

Brian, let me know if you need any assistance in town, for my friend is well-connected and bi-lingual.
