Just when you think you’ve been there and done that…. I’ve heard Cecilia Bartoli a number of times before, but then you walk into a concert like Tuesday’s in Orange County and it hits you like a brick wall. Christ can she sing. What else is there to say. This tour is in support of her recording-come-homage to 19th century mezzo Maria Malibran. The show, unsurprisingly, consisted almost entirely of songs from Bellini, Donizetti, and Rossini and while these may not be the most important works she’s ever sung, you wouldn’t have known that from the way she presented them. Absolutely frigging brilliant. That's really all I have to say.
